Crimson Cats Shop and Blog
Crimson Cats is a audio production company producing and selling unique audio books.
Previously they sold CDs through a simple website with paypal integration - a formula that worked fine. However, it was felt that the audio books should now be available as downloads and so a new, more complex solution was required. The software chosen was Prestashop as it offered a download system as well as all the usual cart features and it is open source and free. The shop allows for multiple currencies to encourage purchasers from other countries.
The new site now allows for CDs, books, downloads, special offers, voucher codes and more. In addition, a Wordpress blog was placed in the back end with a matching template and a Facebook account and Twitter account created and linked. A slide show was placed on the front page of the shop using images from the CD covers to help demonstrate the unique nature of the product.
Since the product is aimed at a very literary inspired target audience, much longer descriptions that would normally be used are encouraged for products, and the posts in the blog from the owner, an experienced writer in his own right, emphasises this approach.
Pant Y Neuadd Caravan Park
An old client, it has been a pleasure to give their website a new look with some new functionality.
In line with other sites, this has been designed to allow the client to alter as much of the site as possible, while keeping the structure held within a template. The company supplies pitches for static holiday caravans within a fully landscaped park in North Wales as well as three holiday cottages.
The new site includes special software designed by Les Arbre that lists availability for the cottages, allows for enquiries and/or online bookings, management of payments, automatic reminder emails and more.
In addition, a section has been included that gives details of local attractions linked to the Google maps system.
The look of the sight was designed to reflect the high quality of the park rather than being the usual "fun and games" approach of many others.
Les Abres Web Solutions
New template for an existing site. Les Arbres design extensions for Joomla including the booking system used for the Pant Y Neuadd web site.
This demonstrates the power of content management solutions like Joomla. This site did everything the client needed, but it just looked tired.
The new template, including new CSS for exsiting elements, meant that the site could be completely upgraded in just a day with very few changes to the original site other than the repositioning of some elements.
P'Arts Agency
Part of the Myra Tiffin School, the agency represents students at the school who wish to take part in professional productions.
The agency has been around for some time and the logo was designed by a student. The brief required remaking the logo to current standards and then designing a site that could be maintained by the staff. Again, joomla was used to create the framework.
Although head and shoulders images of the children are viewable on the site, larger images and more details are protected and only available to registered users. The policy created means that a casting director may be given temporary access but then their account automatically removed after a set time. Access can only be given manually by contacting the staff at the agency. At login, all users are reminded about their obligations and responsibilities for using the site. We wrote the policy for the company as part of the design process.
The design was kept very clean and simple to create a basic framework to showcase the professional photographs which were taken by a portrait specialist.
Myra Tiffin Performing Arts School
The school required a website that would be updated frequently by the school staff and where they would not have to keep calling on the services of an administrator. The site was designed based on the Joomla content management system and is both a sales tool for the school and an information resource for the students.
The design was based on a photograph of one of the dancers and was given a theatrical feel.
Google Apps was also installed so that staff may have email, calendars, document system and wiki sites - a wiki help site was created to help teach staff how to use the website administration. They system comes complete with galleries and newsletter.
